Event details
Join freshwater ecologist, John Gooderham, for a citizen science survey of aquatic macroinvertebrates of Monbulk Creek.
Macroinvertebrates (or waterbugs) are very important for the health of waterways, as they're a key part of the food chain and can tell us about the health of the ecosystem.
You'll learn how to collect and identify live macroinvertebrates using the Agreed Level Taxonomy (ALT) process. Data collected will contribute to a new citizen science waterbug monitoring program at Birdsland Reserve and Melbourne Water's Waterbug Census biodiversity records.
