We're partially upgrading Beaconsfield Reservoir to protect downstream properties and communities. The reservoir was permanently disconnected from Melbourne's water supply network in 1988.

The Two Great Ramsar Wetlands project is a five-year project (2018-23) led by Melbourne Water that aims to bring key agencies, land managers and community groups together to reduce the threats to the Port Phillip and Western Port Ramsar sites at Port Phillip Bay (western shoreline) and Western Port.

Fish can now freely and safely migrate from Port Phillip Bay to Darebin Creek thanks to the installation of a fish ladder.

We have completed an operation in the Silvan Reservoir closed catchment to clear a large quantity of debris following the 2021 storms. This will reduce bushfire risk in the reservoir and the surrounding region, and in doing so, help protect our water supply. Replanting and hand-seeding to regenerate the affected areas has now been completed.

The Waterways of the West – Traditional Owner Engagement Project links community environmental groups based in the Maribyrnong and Werribee catchments with the cultural knowledge and land management expertise of Traditional Owners.

We’re replacing the sewer siphon that runs under the Yarra River, as part of the second phase of works on the Hawthorn Main Sewer upgrade.

We’re building a new mini-hydro electricity plant at our St Albans Reservoir site, which will harness a natural, sustainable and reliable source of energy to help decarbonise the Victorian electricity grid.

We’re working hard to protect the lower Watts River catchment from an aggressive weed, red cestrum.

We’re working to improve the health of the Little Yarra River in Yarra Junction, by undertaking weed control and revegetation along the streamside.
