Water quality contributions explained

We work to ensure the impact of urban development doesn't adversely impact on the water quality of our waterways and bays.

Many of our schemes include regional water quality works (such as wetlands) which are funded by scheme contributions, and we also construct regional water quality works outside of schemes funded by Stormwater quality offset contributions.

The Victoria Planning Provisions stipulate when developments are expected to use on-site treatment to meet best practice targets for stormwater quality.

Expectations and options regarding water quality contributions and on-site treatment are illustrated in the tables below:

Residential development

Scheme with water quality works Scheme with no water quality works Outside schemes
Hydraulic contribution Yes Yes n/a
Water quality treatment Contributions for water quality treatment provided by the scheme Expected to provide water quality treatment within the subdivision in accordance with Clause 56 Developers are expected to provide water quality treatment within the subdivision in accordance with Clause 56
