We’re planning to complete a dam safety upgrade to Cardinia Reservoir in the summer of 2023/24, to protect and prolong the life of one of Victoria’s most pristine water catchments that supplies Melburnians with world-class drinking water.
Melbourne Water is undertaking water main upgrade works in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. These upgrade works will ensure that additional water can be transferred between Silvan and Greenvale reservoirs to accommodate for the area’s future growth and ensure the community continues to be provided with a reliable and secure water supply.

Melbourne Water is planning the construction of a new water treatment plant at Mount Evelyn. The proposed new plant will increase the resilience of the nearby Silvan Reservoir Water Treatment Plant, which plays a vital role in providing Melbourne with safe drinking water.
Upper Yarra Reservoir's dam wall has been upgraded to improve its efficiency and help us to provide an ongoing supply of world class drinking water to Melbourne and surrounds. The dam was built over 60 years ago, and was to be upgraded to meet current design standards.
