Cockatoo and Shepherd Creek

We set trigger levels using historical stream flow data for both the implementation and lifting of bans on the taking and use of water. The triggers have been set to ensure water is shared fairly between licenced diverters and the environment.

Trigger levels

Dates Ban Restriction
1 Dec - 31 May 20 30
1-30 Jun and 1-30 Nov 30 40
1 Jul - 31 Oct 33 50

Bans and triggers are implemented and lifted when a combined catchment-specific trigger has been met, based upon 7 day rolling average stream flows.

The full details for the licence conditions can be found in the stream flow management plan and Drought Response Plan for Woori Yallock Creek catchment.

Flow levels are monitored by gauges (data logging stations) that provide continuous flow readings. The data logging stations for Cockatoo Creek and Shepherds Creek are combined for this status and are located at Cockatoo (229248B) and Shepherds (229677A) creeks at Nangana.
