The Tidal Waterways are a series of canals and harbours connected to the Patterson River. Melbourne Water leases and maintains jetties in the area, and operates flood protection gates.
We regularly monitor blue-green algae and E. coli levels at the Quiet Lakes, and notify residents if these exceed the recommended standards.
The district is a former swamp, drained in the 1800s for farming. Due to its significant flood risk, property owners pay a special precept rate to fund the higher level of drainage service we provide to the area.
