Melbourne Water is undertaking water main upgrade works in Melbourne’s eastern and south-eastern suburbs. These upgrade works will ensure Melbourne Water can continue to supply our customers and the wider community with a safe and reliable water supply now and into the future.
In partnership with Glen Eira City Council, we’ve commissioned several studies into options for mitigating flooding from the Koornang Main Drain, which services the suburbs of Ormond and McKinnon.
We’re working to remove an infestation of water weed (water hyacinth) discovered on our land within Namatjira Park.
We’re upgrading Liverpool Road retarding basin in Boronia, to ensure a safe drainage system and prevent surrounding homes from flooding.
We’ve completed the modification works to strengthen and extend the life of the Blind Creek footbridge in Fairpark Reserve. The bridge is open and detours around the Blind Creek Trail have been removed.
The Hallam Valley wetlands are now open to the community again following works to improve how the wetland functions.
In Melbourne, our rivers and creeks are essential to our way of life. That’s why at Melbourne Water we’re removing weeds and planting native plants along a 3km stretch of Haunted Gully Creek. Once established, the vegetation will protect the banks of the creek and provide habitat so our native wildlife can thrive.
