Findon Creek revegetation

Future

Our rivers and creeks are essential to our way of life and the plants and animals that depend on them. That’s why at Melbourne Water we’re improving the health of Findon Creek in Epping and Wollert with a weeding and revegetation program over 3 years.

French Island Priority Place

Current

We're collaborating with government agencies and the French Island community on a five-year project to create a safe haven for threatened wildlife, by eradicating feral cats from French Island.

Galada Tamboore woody weed control

Current

We are removing large woody weeds along a 500m stretch of Merri Creek during February - March. This section of Merri Creek is home to the endangered Growling Grass Frog whose habitat is threatened by invasive woody weeds such as Desert Ash.

Grow West

Current

Grow West is a long-term, collaborative environmental program working to rejuvenate degraded landscapes in the Upper Werribee Catchment and create vegetation connections between the YouYangs Regional Park, Brisbane Ranges National Park, Werribee Gorge State Park and Lerderderg State Park.

Hawthorn East Main Drain

Future

The Hawthorn East Main Drain (HEMD) is part of the complex drainage system which Melbourne Water manages. A recent inspection of the HEMD found that sections may be reaching the end of their working life resulting in brick separation and some brick loss.   That’s why at Melbourne Water we are upgrading the HEMD so that it can continue to ensure that rainfall and ground water can safely flow away from built-up areas into rivers and creeks.
