
Melbourne Water welcomes two new board directors
Melbourne Water welcomes two new board directors, Lahra Carey and Prue Digby. The two new appointments further enrich the expertise of the Melbourne Water board, bringing new perspectives and experiences to the organisation alongside the re-appointment of Anita Roper and James Atkins.
Announced by the Minister for Water, the Hon. Gayle Tierney, the board appointments started from 1 October 2025.
Melbourne Water Managing Director, Dr Nerina Di Lorenzo, congratulated Lahra and Prue on their appointments.
“Melbourne Water is delighted to welcome Lahra Carey and Prue Digby as new board directors and returning directors Anita Roper and James Atkins. They join Greg Wilson as Chair and continuing directors Monique Conheady, Binda Gokhale, Freya Marsden and Cameron Myrtle,” Dr Di Lorenzo said.
“I look forward to working with our new directors as part of the board as we continue to deliver for the community we serve.”
Two outgoing directors are Andrew Cairns and Fiona Rowland, who completed their terms on 30 September 2025.
“I sincerely thank and recognise outgoing directors, Andrew Cairns and Fiona Rowland, for their significant leadership and commitment in stewarding Melbourne Water over many years,” Dr Di Lorenzo added.

Prue Digby is an experienced chair, non-executive director and senior executive, with expertise in providing community and public-related services to Melbourne and regional Victoria in the state, local government and non-government sectors. Formerly a member of the Birrarung Council, Prue is currently a Member of the Victoria University Council, trustee of the Ross Trust and has recently completed her role as Chair of the Commission of Inquiry into Whittlesea Council.
