Update: 25 June 2021

Melbourne Water has been notified of a potential hazard for developers planting contractors when they are installing aquatic plants around wetland pools containing submerged pit structures.

Given the pits are submerged and could be hidden below the water’s surface, we will be updating our Standard Drawings to require that a marker post be installed on all submerged structures so the location is more easily visible and the hazard can be avoided.

While we update our Standard Drawings with our preferred marker post configuration, please ensure any wetland projects that are currently underway or will be planted out soon have all submerged structures clearly identified with a visible marker post, so planting contractors working in the vicinity of the structures can avoid them and remain safe.

For additional information please contact Michael Flanagan on (03) 9679 7453.
