Event details

Members of the general public collaborate with professional scientists to collect data which can make a meaningful impact on environmental management. April is a Citizen Science Month and  Melbourne Water is focusing on counting frogs. Be our ears and eyes on the ground and get involved in monitoring. Every frog counts and information collected by you will help us protect waterways and habitat for wildlife such as frogs.

Why get involved in Citizen Science?

In order to be able to protect wildlife, like vulnerable frog species we need to know where they are. That’s why we count frogs using the Frog Census App. Rarely seen but often heard, the Frog Census App is the perfect way to keep track of these cool (or iconic?) creatures!

Keep an eye on our social media and celebrate the records collected over April. Can you be the one to collect the most records?

Who can become a citizen scientist?

How do I get involved?

To get involved in citizen science, you'll need curiosity and a keen ear!

Download the Frog Census App to your mobile phone. Our Frog Census app makes it easy to record and submit frog calls while you’re out and about. Your recordings and photos will be verified by professional ecologists, and added to public databases.
