We are planning to transfer 280 hectares of our land to the Crown for conservation purposes, and rezone and sell the remainder on the open market. The land was previously earmarked for the Watsons Creek Storage Reservoir.
We’re collaborating with councils, the Environment Protection Authority Victoria and other partners to develop a holistic, data-driven approach to prevent litter entering Port Phillip Bay through Elster Creek.
We are enhancing the Mill Park Wetlands in The Lakes Reserve, South Morang, to ensure they keep working the way they were meant to: filtering out nitrogen and harmful pollutants and keeping our rivers and creeks healthy.
Thornhill Park Retarding Basin and Wetland requires some rectification works on the outlet structure, north of the freeway to allow for the water levels to naturally balance within the system as designed. Once the water levels have been lowered landscaping works can commence around the park. Melbourne Water will undertake the landscaping works, which will include outdoor fitness equipment, a viewing platform and plantings around the area.
Melbourne Water undertakes routine inspections and maintenance of Lilydale Drain and other drainage assets within the local area. To maintain these assets at times maintenance and desilting works are required.
We're upgrading sections of the North Yarra Main (NYM) Sewer between Yarra Flats Park, Ivanhoe East and Farms Rd, Alphington (3.5kms). Ensuring we maintain our world class sewerage system today, tomorrow and for generations to come.
To secure a reliable water future for Melbourne's growing western suburbs, we're building a new bypass pipeline at St Albans Reservoir. This connection to our northern reservoirs will enhance our ability to deliver a sustainable water supply, now and for a changing climate.
We’re finding smart ways to actively manage and improve the health of Monbulk Creek for our community and the environment.
