We will be removing trees and vegetation that are invasive weeds along the Werribee River in Bacchus Marsh then replanting the area with native trees and plants. Our maintenance program will also include rabbit control.
These works will improve the health of this waterway by protecting it from erosion while ensuring the local platypus population and other native animals and plants can thrive.

The Western Treatment Plant (WTP) sustainably treats almost half of Melbourne’s sewage daily. We’ve been constructing the 5 West Nutrient Removal Plant (NRP) to ensure a safe sewerage service for local homes and businesses now and into the future.
Thornhill Park Retarding Basin and Wetland required rectification works on the outlet structure, north of the freeway to allow for the water levels to naturally balance within the system as designed. Once the water levels had been lowered landscaping works commenced around the park. Melbourne Water completed the landscaping works, which will included outdoor fitness equipment, a viewing platform and plantings around the area.
Melbourne Water is undertaking essential upgrades by raising the sewer weir and replacing and raising maintenance holes at the North West Sewer shaft within Afton Street Reserve in Aberfeldie.
We're partially upgrading Beaconsfield Reservoir to protect downstream properties and communities. The reservoir was permanently disconnected from Melbourne's water supply network in 1988.
