Join the Frog Census
Being a frog monitor is easy and fun — and you don’t have to be a frog expert! Simply download the free Frog Census app for Apple or Android, and record frog calls at any river, creek, wetland or other type of waterway.
If you can't download the app:
- Capture the frog call on another recording device
- Fill out the datasheet below
- Email your recording and datasheet to [email protected]
We'll then get a professional ecologist to identify the frog species.
Frog Census Handbook
Download the Frog Census Handbook to discover how to safely and effectively monitor frogs, including key tips on establishing a long term, site-specific monitoring program.
Where to Find Frogs guide
To monitor frogs, you first need to know how to find them. Download our guide to discover the varied breeding habitats used by Melbourne's frog species.
How we use the data
We use the data to inform our planning and decisions on waterway health. It will also be added to CSIRO's Atlas of Living Australia and the Victorian Biodiversity Atlas to share biodiversity knowledge about endangered species.
