Repair works on Tarralla Creek wetlands sediment pond

Croydon

We’re preparing to undertake some works next to Norton Road in Croydon to repair the wall of a sediment pond which had collapsed.

What are we doing?

The sediment pond is part of the Tarralla Creek wetlands. Its role is to capture stormwater runoff and hold it long enough for soil and debris, particularly coarse sediments, to settle down to the bottom. It’s crucial for improving water quality and protecting downstream waterways from excess sedimentation.

What to expect

  • The area will be fenced off until construction works to repair the affected area are complete. This includes the footpath next to Norton Road which will remain closed to ensure public safety.
  • Once the area is repaired and safe, the fencing will be removed and the footpath will be re-opened.
  • At times, there may be traffic and pedestrian management in place for the movement of large vehicles and machinery.
  • Please make sure to follow instructions from traffic management staff and path detour signs for your safety and that of our workers.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during these important works.

Timing

To inform the detailed designs for the new wall, there will be some site assessments and ground investigations carried out at the site in late April 2026. Construction works to repair the sediment pond wall will start in mid to late 2026. The timing is subject to relevant permits, approvals and weather conditions. The works are expected to take approximately one month.
We’ll keep you updated on the exact timing of the works as the detailed design work progresses and we know more.
