Epping Wollert

Our rivers and creeks are essential to our way of life and the plants and animals that depend on them. That’s why at Melbourne Water we’re improving the health of Findon Creek in Epping and Wollert over 3 years.

In February we commence removing and controlling weeds and non-native vegetation, as well as rubbish that has accumulated along the waterway.

From July 2026, we will plant 27,000 new locally indigenous plants to restore and enhance native creek vegetation.

Works will take place along 3kms of Findon Creek from Saltlake Blvd in Wollert to Paul Crescent Park, Epping (immediately south of Manley St).

Protecting our native plants and animals

This section of Findon Creek has been determined as a priority stretch of waterway for the establishment of vegetation under our Healthy Waterways Strategy.

This weed control and revegetation program will enhance and help protect a corridor for native wildlife and the remnant River Red Gum Trees.

The planting mix and density will also be sensitive to Golden Sun Moth and Growling Grass Frog habitat requirements.

By restoring native habitat in Findon Creek we can protect our native plants and animals now and for generations to come.
