We are working with Parks Victoria and Yarra Ranges Council to improve visitor access and protect the environment at the popular Redwood Forest in Warburton.
Along the Cement Creek and the Yarra River, we are building a boardwalk, walking paths, viewing platforms and fencing, and revegetating the riverbank with new native plants.
This project is being delivered on Wurundjeri Country. These waterways support a wide variety of native plants and wildlife including platypus and nationally significant fish species, such as the Australian Grayling, River Blackfish and the Macquarie Perch.
Some areas of the riverbank have become damaged from informal access trails. Building a boardwalk, lookout and paths will increase accessibility for visitors wanting to view the waterways and allow native vegetation to re-establish.
By working with our project partners Parks Victoria, Yarra Ranges Council and Traditional Owners, we can support more visitors who want to enjoy this special area and also protect native plants and animals for generations to come.
Visitor access to the Redwood Forest will continue to remain open however to ensure the safety of visitors, some paths near the riverbank will need to be temporarily closed during our works from October 2025 to early 2026.
