S1: Silvan Reservoir is at the heart of our water transfer system. It plays a really important role in supplying safe and reliable drinking water to Melbourne. Silvan Reservoir receives water from our Upper Yarra system and O’Shannassy Reservoir as well. It can also pump water up to here from Cardinia, and from this point we're able to send flow through into metropolitan Melbourne.

The reservoir was built in 1932. It was very fortuitous of the people of the time to be able to see, plan and build such a incredible asset. Working at Melbourne Water, I get to come to work each day and be responsible for providing safe, reliable drinking water to Melbourne, to my family, friends, community and it's incredibly rewarding.
