If your property adjoins Melbourne Water freehold land and your half-share fencing application has been approved, you will need to apply to be reimbursed for the agreed contribution amount.

Haven’t applied yet? Please review the Half Share Fencing application page first, then submit your application.
If your application has been submitted and is still under assessment, you must wait until approval is confirmed before applying for reimbursement.

Application process

Your Stage 1 approval letter will outline:

  • The amount Melbourne Water has approved for reimbursement
  • The conditions of approval
  • The documents required to finalise reimbursement
  • Reimbursement is limited to the approved amount and is subject to all conditions being met.

How Reimbursement Works

Once your fence has been constructed, reimbursement can be arranged in one of the following ways:

  • Your contractor can apply directly, submitting an invoice for the approved contribution amount, or
  • You can pay for the works in full and apply for reimbursement by submitting a receipt showing the fence has been paid in full

Payment requirements

To receive payment, applicants must submit their bank details through the Zycus portal prior to submitting their application. Payment can be made directly to either the contractor or the property owner.

Documents required

To apply for reimbursement, you must provide:

  • Invoice or receipt
  • Photos of the completed fence
  • Photos with evidence of removed materials

Timeframe

The process will take up to 14 days, complex applications may take longer. Incomplete applications may also be delayed or returned requesting additional information
