We're maintaining Melbourne Water’s pipeline in Box Hill to increase water delivery capacity to Melbourne's northeastern suburbs. We’re rehabilitating this vital connection to enhance water delivery, ensuring a reliable and sustainable supply for today, tomorrow and generations to come.
What we are doing
Melbourne Water will be commencing a number of site investigations to gather critical information to inform the assessment of main drain improvements.
Why we are doing this project
The objective of the program is to deliver comprehensive monitoring to establish where remediation works are required to enable a continued supply of water to the Melbourne metropolitan area into the future.
When and what works are happening
Work is scheduled to commence from Thursday 12 June until Sunday 15 June 2025 at 845 Canterbury Road, Box Hill. Work will be undertaken at nighttime.
These works will involve:
- excavation for inspections
- asphalt road reinstatement
Working hours
Our night work hours will be:
Thursday 12 June: 8pm – 5am
Friday 13 June: 8pm – 5am
Saturday 14 June: 8am – 8pm
Saturday 14 June: 8pm – Sunday 15 June: 8am
Residents will be advised if any work is necessary outside these hours. Dates may change subject to weather conditions.

What to expect
While we work, you may notice temporary disruptions, including increased machinery noise and vehicle traffic in the area.
As a guide, we have listed some impacts you may notice during these works.
- No driveways will be impacted by works.
- Noise and dust: There will be a short-term increase in noise in the area, but we will do as much as possible to reduce the construction noise. We will actively monitor noise and dust levels throughout the works to ensure strict compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) thresholds.
- Traffic, parking, bike riders and pedestrians: At night, there will be temporary changes to traffic conditions, including lane closures and parking restrictions. We encourage you to follow all directions and take care around work areas.
