[Speaker 1 – a male voice starts explaining the project]

James Le: We’re building a new sewer that will run under the Yarra River, from Spotswood all the way to Port Melbourne.

We have an existing sewer, but that’s coming to its end of life, and the condition is deteriorating. A new sewer will allow us to rehabilitate the old one, give us flexibility to run the system both ways and that will set up Melbourne’s future for generations to come.

[An overview shot of the Hobsons Bay Main Sewer project site can be seen, showcasing 2 large holes in the ground.]

[Speaker 2 – a woman voice starts speaking.]

[2 people can be seen walking and pointing]

Julia Crellin: So the Hobsons Bay Main is an important part of the sewer network, it carries around 30% of wastewater to be treated at the Western Treatment Plant.

[Close up shots of the construction site holes are visual.]

Julia Crellin: We’re building this sewer to make sure we protect the environment, and ensure we have enough sewerage capacity for Melbourne’s growing population.

We’re working with our neighbours like Scienceworks and Grazeland, to ensure it remains business as usual, whilst we work.

[Images of families looking at the colourful hoarding at Scienceworks]

Julia Crellin: We’ve also been involving the community, like the kids and families that come to Scienceworks, and we show them what we’re doing and how important it is to the city.

[Images of kids at Scienceworks can be seen, watching the contractors through the viewing windows]

It’s really exciting to be a part of this project, and to see the legacy that we’re  are leaving behind for Melbourne.
