Reimagining Your Moonee Ponds Creek: September-December 2023 timelapse

Watch progress from September to December 2023, as we replaced the concrete walls and covered the base with rockwork to create a meandering creek with a more natural look and feel. Not only will this create a more appealing environment where people can interact with nature - it will also improve water quality and waterway health by slowing down water flows.

[Timelapse footage begins with water in the creek bed, showing concrete lining the bottom of the creek and both sides of the bank. Above the concrete banks are some trees, shrubs and grass with a path for cyclists and pedestrians.]

[The water in the creek recedes and a large blue excavator and a smaller yellow excavator come into frame and begin to slowly place large boulders on the banks of the creek and rocks of all shapes and sizes on top of the concrete slab of the creek bed.]

[Multiple construction workers come in and out of frame along the creek bed and on top of the banks.]

[The timelapse footage continues to show a progression of the rockwork lining taking place along the creek bed, with large boulders and rocks slowly replacing the concrete slab, creating a more natural look and feel.]

[Timelapse footage shows the creek filling with water. Then a large blue excavator on the right hand side of the creek digs and moves large amounts of dirt to level out the steep banks.]

[The timelapse footage then shows the large blue excavator on the right hand side of the creek placing large boulders and rocks to create a path down to the water in the creek and a row of stepping stones across to the other side of the creek.]

[Timelapse footage shows construction machinery and workers creating a gravel path along the top of the newly levelled out area to the right of the creek.]

[The creek continues to fill and recede with water. The large blue excavator continues to place large boulders on the right hand side of the creek to create a meandering creek, and rocks of all shapes and sizes on the bottom of the creek.]

[The video ends with a view of the rockwork on the bottom of the creek bed with rock steps leading down to the creek and stepping stones across the creek, and water fills the creek again.]
