Update on the Campbellfield factory fire

Melbourne Water supported Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Environment Protection Authority in responding to the Campbellfield factory fire. Our crews worked around-the-clock over the weekend to contain and manage runoff from the fire site. The fast action of our staff ensured the majority of the runoff from the fire was contained at the National Business Park Wetland, which minimised impacts to Merlynston Creek and surrounding waterways.

Planning is now underway to transition into the recovery phase. Melbourne Water will carry out clean-up activities at the wetland and adjacent areas of Merlynston Creek over the coming weeks.
