Melbourne Water development applications available online from Wednesday 29 March

On Wednesday 29 March 20 online development applications will be available from our website and our new internal system will be launched, which will allow us to manage and respond to applications more efficiently.

Our online application process will be Melbourne Water’s preferred channel for receiving development applications.

What are the benefits?

The benefits of online applications and the upgrade to our internal system include:

  • Customers can now check the status of their applications online, using a unique Melbourne Water reference number provided.
  • Providing a clear list of documents required, meaning less ambiguity for customers around what documents we need to process your application.
  • Applications will now be directed to the relevant teams via our new system, allowing us to assess and respond to your application faster.

What you need to do

Start completing your development applications online, via a new ‘Apply Online’ page that will be found within the  Planning and Building section of our website.

For Councils, whilst online development applications will be our preferred way of receiving applications, we will continue to monitor incoming referrals from council specific channels (such as e-pathway and Greenlight) to ensure that these are downloaded and processed. You will also continue to use SPEAR for Statutory Subdivision applications, as it will be directly interfaced with our system to be routed to the correct internal team for processing.
