Event Details

Join John Gooderham to explore the Plenty River's waterbugs at this community event, hosted by the Merri Creek Management Committee and supported by the City of Whittlesea, the National Waterbug Blitz and Melbourne Water.

The day will be divided into two parts – feel free to attend one or both.

  1. 11am–12.30pm
Meeting at the Two Beans and a Farm café, we will walk down to the river to see how we collect bugs and discuss the effects of development. This involves walking down a grassy track through long grass, so walking shoes and long pants are recommended along with weather-appropriate clothing.
  2. 12.30pm–2pm
Back at the café we will identify the waterbugs found and enter the results in the Waterbug App. Children are welcome to help and there will be other fun activities for them.

A light lunch will provided between the two activities; please notify us of any dietary requirements.
The event is free but registration is necessary.
