Melbourne Water’s statement on Victoria’s earthquake

Following Victoria’s 5.8 earthquake on Wednesday 22 September, Melbourne Water has enacted our rapid response and inspection program for all of our critical assets including dams across our areas of operation. This inspection program is designed specifically to be deployed following such incidents.

To date, no specific issues or impacts have been observed regarding asset integrity or the ability to continue provision of the services we provide to the community

Our infrastructure and services are designed to the highest world safety standards and our first priority is community safety.

Melbourne Water will continue to monitor for any further impacts or risks presented as a result of this event and if required will work with SES, water retailers, councils and state government to ensure continued community safety and drinking water quality.
