Event Details

Did you know that the platypus is one of only two mammals in the world that lay eggs? This, along with many other specialised adaptations, make the the platypus a fascinating creature.

Hosted by Melbourne Water and the Werribee River Association, join a platypus expert for a walk and talk along Werribee River where you can:

  • learn about our local platypus population
  • find out how to spot a platypus
  • get hands-on with some waterbug sampling to see what they eat

We'll also discuss how litter affects our waterways and what we can all do to help!
