Waterbug Census Training - Darebin Parklands

Macroinvertebrates (or waterbugs) are very important for the health of the waterway as they are a key part of the food chain and can tell us about the health of the ecosystem.

Come along to the Waterwatch training day to learn more about these amazing animals. You can also find out how to become involved at your local waterway.

The training day will cover:

  • why we are interested in macroinvertebrates
  • how to sample for macroinvertebrates (including field safety)
  • identifying live macroinvertebrates (using the Agreed Level Taxonomy System)
