Melbourne Water contractors WOOD will be inspecting the condition of a sewer manhole and its internal fittings near the corner of Cullen Street and Hudsons Road, Spotswood.
About the Project
Works will happen continuously across both day and night time hours as some inspections can only be completed when the sewerage system is at 'low flow' which is generally after midnight or very early in the morning.
To ensure our workers can enter the manhole safely and to keep local sewerage services operating, we’ll install a temporary sewer bypass pipe and pumping system. The pipe will sit above ground and will run from the corner of The Avenue and Cullen Street, down the length of Cullen Street across both Mary Street and Hudsons Road before ending at the corner of Hudsons Road and Cullen Street.
What to expect
We will make every effort to minimise impacts to community however during works you may notice:
- Possible odour when workers open the manholes
- Minor noise associated with machinery movements and bypass pumping
- Traffic detours and road closures
- Restricted vehicle access to some properties due the above ground bypass pipe
- Lighting during night works at the corner of Cullen and Hudsons Road.
Please note that pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Melbourne Water representatives will contact you should vehicle access to your driveway be affected.
This work will start on Monday 13 December and will take three days to complete.
