Raffaela Arico

Senior Customer Program Lead
(Service Delivery - Waterways and Land)

I am an Environmental Engineer and joined Melbourne Water in 1999. Since then I've worked in many different areas of the business - from drainage and growth area planning, to capital delivery project management - and am now manager of Clearwater, a capacity building program in sustainable water management.

We play a critical role in helping to transition toward a water sensitive future. Our events and resources build knowledge and learning networks for a variety of practitioners to accelerate the uptake of sustainable urban water management. We are hosted by Melbourne Water and our partners are the Environment Protection Authority, the Municipal Association of Victoria, Department of Sustainability and Environment and the Centre for Water Sensitive Cities.

The fact that I have chosen to work at Melbourne Water for almost 15 years says a lot about what it's like to work here. There are so many career opportunities here that it's impossible to get bored!

Richard Lovett

Planning Engineer
(Integrated Planning)

I’ve always been interested in engineering, sustainability and the environment, so when a position came up in the Water Recycling Planning team in 2009, I had to apply. Since then, I have really enjoyed working with my colleagues to find the best way to supply fit for purpose recycled water to new and existing customers. I love the fact that my work leads to tangible outcomes in the form of new infrastructure and improvements to the way we operate our systems. There are great opportunities for professional development and I am constantly expanding my knowledge of treatment and transfer systems, risk assessment, project management and construction. Melbourne Water plays an influential role in the water industry and with its talented people, broad range of business areas and constructive work culture - it is a great place to work.

Charmaine Quick

Executive General Manager
Service Delivery

I joined Melbourne Water as a graduate civil engineer 20 years ago. I now manage all of our civil assets – everything from dams to drains, water mains to sewers. Working at Melbourne Water has offered me many great career development opportunities, from managing control rooms, to overseeing asset maintenance and determining the most sustainable time for our assets to be updated. I love that Melbourne Water is so committed to work life balance. This has allowed me to find the time to travel and see the world. Put it this way – I would not have stayed at Melbourne Water for 20 years if I did not value the culture and opportunities it has to offer.

John Woodland

Manager, Waterways Delivery North East Region
(Service Delivery - Waterways and Land)

I started my career with the former Rural Water Corporation, after completing a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1992. Since then I have completed two graduate diplomas – one in Water Engineering at Monash University and one in Energy and Resources Law at the University of Melbourne. Prior to joining Melbourne Water in 1998, I worked for the Office of Water Reform. My job is all about making sure we continue to provide high quality water to our customers as efficiently and sustainably as possible. With a team of over 100 people and multiple stakeholders, communication and consultation is a large part of my job. I see my biggest contribution as creating an environment where people can reach their full potential. I enjoy knowing I am contributing to outcomes that will make Melbourne an even better place to live. I also like the variety of work, the positive work culture and diversity of people I work with.
