The Melbourne Water graduate program

In the Melbourne Water graduate program, you will be exposed to the broader water industry as we partner with metropolitan water authorities, South East Water, City West Water and Yarra Valley Water to provide a collaborative professional development program for you. The graduate recruitment process involves several stages, and here is what you can expect at each stage:

Online application

The online application stage will provide you with an opportunity to tell us more about yourself. You will be asked to submit your CV, cover letter and academic transcript, as well as answer a few short application questions.

It won’t take long, and you can save and return to your application at any time before submitting it to us.

Phone interview

If you meet the criteria, we’ll contact you to ask you a few questions about why you’re interested in joining the graduate program.

Online testing

We’ll ask successful candidates to complete online testing, to assess numerical and verbal reasoning abilities.

The water industry experience / assessment

You will be asked to attend one of our on-site assessment sessions. During this session, we’ll ask you to work with others in a range of group and individual activities. We’ll take you on a tour of our facilities and you’ll get to meet some of our senior leaders.

Face-to-face interview at Melbourne Water

Following the assessment sessions, preferred candidates will be invited back to our offices for a face-to-face interview. The interview gives us the opportunity to learn more about you and gives you the opportunity to learn more about us and the position.

Reference and additional checks

We’ll conduct reference checks with your two referees. You may also be asked to complete a medical assessment, a national police record check, fitness test and to provide identification documents and evidence of eligibility to work in Australia.

Upon the successful completion of checks, we will make you an offer over the phone and in writing.

… and then you start!

In December 2018, we’ll be hosting a meet and greet onsite. This is great opportunity for you to meet with your colleagues, leaders and familiarise yourself with your new office and surroundings. The Melbourne Water 2019 Graduate Program starts 29 January 2019.
