Once the natural northern outlet of the Carrum Carrum Swamp, Mordialloc Creek is now fed by a diversion on lower Dandenong Creek and underground drains entering from the north. A mostly urban and industrial catchment, it suffered from heavy metal pollution and other contaminents during the 1970s, but has now improved significantly. The internationally recognised Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands are in this catchment and, to the north, there are wetlands in Braeside Park and the Woodlands Estate.
Improvement works: Recent works include replanting and stabilisation of the creek's bed and banks along with ongoing works to maintain the environmental values at Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands.
