Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Community Liaison Committee

The Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Community Liaison Committee was established in 2004 to assist Melbourne Water in the management of these internationally important wetlands, which are listed under the Ramsar Convention.

Aims

The Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Community Liaison Committee is a community engagement forum through which Melbourne Water aims to communicate effectively with interested stakeholders on matters in relation to the management of the Edithvale-Seaford wetlands.

The committee aims to:

  • Provide a forum for members of the local community, stakeholders and Melbourne Water to discuss issues relating to the ongoing and future management of the Edithvale-Seaford wetlands.
  • Provide an opportunity for members of the local community and stakeholders to identify potential actions and programs to enhance wildlife and habitat features of the Edithvale-Seaford wetlands, within the scope of the Ramsar and Conservation Management Plan for the site.
  • Promote and encourage scientific studies that will enhance the future management of the Edithvale-Seaford wetlands.
  • Advise on and assist in the dissemination of information to the community about the environmental, conservation and wildlife values of the Edithvale-Seaford wetlands especially given its Ramsar status.

Stakeholders

Stakeholders represented on the CLC include the Friends of Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands, Frankston City Council, Kingston City Council, Kingston Conservation and Environment Committee, Birds Australia, Bird Observers Club of Australia, Aspendale Gardens Residents Association, Seaford Community Group and the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria.
