We have done a great deal of research over the past 15 years to find out what the community thinks about our rivers and creeks.
Since the first surveys, the community has become more aware of our rivers and creeks and as a result their expectations have increased.
In recent surveys:
74% of the people surveyed gave their local river or creek a "good" to "very good" rating.
94% of the people surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that "our rivers and creeks are a valuable asset to the community".
63% said that protecting the environment should be the first priority for waterway management.
We also found that 29% of people volunteer in Melbourne, with 30% of these people volunteering to help our rivers and creeks.
By asking the community what they think, we can develop priorities for protecting and improving the health of our rivers and creeks.
