Maroondah Reservoir
Maroondah Reservoir is about 55 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. Water from Maroondah Reservoir is transferred to Sugarloaf Reservoir and then to some of Melbourne's northern, western and inner suburbs. Maroondah Reservoir's capacity is 22,000 megalitres (million litres).
In the 1920s a large scale dam construction program began and Maroondah Reservoir was completed in 1927. The completion of Maroondah Reservoir, O'Shannassy Reservoir in 1928 and Silvan Reservoir in 1932 saw Melbourne's storages boosted from a capacity of 30,000 megalitres to 104,500 megalitres.
