Shared Pathways
Approval is required to build a Shared Path on Melbourne Water land.
What is a Shared Pathway?
A Shared Path is a track, used by pedestrians and cyclists. Shared Paths can be placed along public open space networks along waterways/constructed lakes/wetland systems.
Important:
- A Pathways Agreement must be created by Melbourne Water and signed by the relevant Council and Melbourne Water before a proposal is approved.
- Permit requirements - If a Permit is required the applicant must approach the relevant council department to obtain a permit before starting this application process.

Refer to the checklists in the Shared Path Guidelines document. Attach the relevant checklist to your application submission.

Step 3
Submit the following to the Asset Services Team:
- Formal cover letter
- Checklist (electronic scanned version for online submission)
- Detailed plans
