Building Over a Drain, Easement Or Other Assets
Melbourne Water must give consent for any structure to be built over or near any of its underground assets or easements.

How to apply to build over assets

Prepare your plans
You’ll need:
- a copy of your Certificate of Title
PLUS standard drawings showing at least:
- Proposed and existing structures, showing the offset/location from easement and Melbourne Water’s main drain.
- Details of landscaping, including location and types of plants.
- Any proposed service crossing of the main drain and the stormwater drainage system.
- Footing details.
- Detailed plans of the development including any driveways, landscaping, fencing etc.
Photographs of the area affected would also be useful.
