Melbourne Water Begins Search for New Managing Director

Melbourne Water has started recruitment for a successor to outgoing Managing Director Rob Skinner, who has confirmed his intention to leave the corporation in February 2011.

Chairman Eleanor Underwood said Melbourne Water had engaged executive recruitment firm Amrop Cordiner King to lead a global search. Following a shortlisting process, the Board will select the preferred candidate for approval by the Minister for Water.

Rob Skinner was appointed Managing Director in February 2005 for an initial term of five years. This was then extended for a further year, expiring in February 2011.

Ms Underwood praised Mr Skinner’s strong leadership during his tenure, during which he oversaw historic levels of infrastructure investment.

“Rob’s enduring legacy will be how well Melbourne Water responded to the challenges of unprecedented drought and climate change, safeguarding supply for a city of four million people.

“Over the next six months he will continue to provide leadership and vision as we focus on creating a sustainable water future for Melbourne,” she said.
