SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON SUGARLOAF PIPE FLOWS

There have been some misleading claims made about the operation of the Sugarloaf Pipeline since it was officially connected. Here are some facts:

  • Between 10 February and 19 February, about 0.4 billion litres has been pumped through the pipeline from the Goulburn River into Sugarloaf Reservoir.
  • There will be fluctuations day-to-day in how much flows through the Sugarloaf Pipeline as part of standard operating procedure, but the bottom line is that we will transfer 75 billion litres over the course of the year.
  • The daily output capacity of Sugarloaf Reservoir is significantly higher than the output capacity of the Sugarloaf Pipeline. It is inaccurate to suggest a net reduction in the storage level of Sugarloaf Reservoir means the pipeline isn’t delivering water into it.
