STORAGES DROP BY 10.2 BILLION LITRES
A week of below average rainfall over Melbourne’s water catchments has seen storages decrease by a further 0.6% (10.2 billion litres).
Storages are now 32.1% (569.9 billion litres) full, compared with 36.6% (649.1 billion litres) at the same time last year – a difference of almost 80 billion litres.
Rainfall over the major catchments in the past week averaged 3.0mm, compared with the long-term average of 19mm.
Streamflow into reservoirs was about 70% below average for the period.
Melburnians used an average of 202 litres each per day – down from 241 litres from the previous week.
