STORAGES OVER 40%

Melbourne’s water storages have risen a further 0.2% (3,479 million litres) this week to 40.1% (711,475 million litres) full today. Storages were last above 40% in December last year, and this follows a further week of below average consumption and some rainfall in the catchments.

Between 2.8mm (Maroondah) and 12.2mm (O’Shannassy) of rainfall was recorded at Melbourne’s four major catchments this week, with total system storage now around 90 billion litres lower than at the same time last year, when they were 45.2% full.

Average daily consumption from the system for the week was 1,001 million litres, down on the 5 year spring average of 1,193 million litres a day.

Stage 3a water restrictions are now in place. Further details are available by visiting the Our Water Our Future website ourwater.vic.gov.au [website no longer available, visit Office of Water for this information] or by contacting the government water retailers.
