WELL ABOVE AVERAGE RAINFALL IN THE CATCHMENTS THIS WEEK

Melbourne’s water storages are 32.5% (576,251 million litres) full today – a decrease of 0.5% (8,184 million litres) since last week. Storages are at a level 19.4% lower than at the same time last year when they were 51.9% (920,904 million litres) full.

Melbourne’s four major catchments - Thomson, Upper Yarra, O’Shannassy and Maroondah – received significant rainfall during the week, with between 36mm and 53mm recorded. This is well above the March average.

Melburnians continue to do a great job saving water with average daily consumption lower than the autumn average, as well as below the consumption at the same time last year.

Stage 3 water restrictions are currently in place and Stage 3a water restrictions will be implemented from April 1.
