WINTER RAINFALL TOTALS STILL DOWN FOR MELBOURNE'S RESERVOIRS

Melbourne's water storages are 47.3% (838,188 million litres) full today. Storages are now at a level 4.8% lower than at the same time last year when they were 52.1% (924,234 million litres) full.

Despite dipping slightly early in the week, rainfall of between 16.8mm and 31.6mm in the four major catchments - O'Shannassy, Thomson, Upper Yarra and Maroondah - has seen storages end the week at the same level as this time last week.

While the Thomson Reservoir received above average rainfall in July, Melbourne's other three major reservoirs recorded rainfall between 18 and 50% below their long term July averages.

Winter rainfall in the four major catchments remains well below the long-term average with Maroondah having recorded 39% of its long-term average to date, O'Shannassy 24%, Upper Yarra 31% and Thomson 50%.

Melburnians continued to use less water last week than the winter daily average.
