RAIN HELPS LIFT STORAGES SLIGHTLY
8 December 2005
Good rainfall and reduced water consumption over the past week has seen Melbourne's water storages increase by 0.1% (1,293ML), ending the first week of summer 59.9% full (1,062,128 million litres).
Melbourne's four major catchments -Thomson, O'Shannassy, Maroondah and Upper Yarra - have all received more than 50% of their average December rainfall in the first 7 days of month. Between 46.2mm and 69.2mm of rain fell in the catchments this week.
However, despite this welcome start to summer, with warmer days ahead Melburnian's are reminded to follow Melbourne's Permanent Water Saving Rules and help conserve water.
