STORAGES IN GOOD SHAPE BUT MORE NEEDED

13 October 2005

Melbourne’s water storages are 60.1% (1,065,810 million litres) full today – 2.7% higher than at the same time last year.

Melbourne’s four major catchments - Thomson, Upper Yarra, Maroondah and O’Shannassy – have received some good rainfall over the past week of between 30mm and 42mm.

However, despite this good rainfall, the Thomson Reservoir, the largest reservoir in Melbourne’s supply system, remains just under 50% full.
