WATER STORAGES CONTINUE TO RISE
10 February 2005
Melbourne's water storages have risen this week by 0.4%, or 5,690 million litres, and are now at 59.7%.
Each of Melbourne's four major catchments recorded between 20.2mm and 34mm, well above the long-term average.
"Last week's very significant rainfall meant both a welcome boost for our reservoirs and less need for people to consume water this week. Our weekly consumption has been well below the average summer use and this will help maintain our supplies", acting Managing Director, Grant Wilson said today.
Melbourne's water storages for the week ending 10 February 2005 were 59.7% (1,057,642 megalitres) full. This is an increase of 5,690 ML since last week (3 February 2005). The increase represents 0.32% of total system storage capacity.
For the same time last year (10 February 2004) Melbourne's water storages were 54.2% (961,347 megalitres) full.
