GOOD RAIN RECORDED IN OUR CATCHMENTS

Melbourne’s four major catchments - Thomson, Upper Yarra, Maroondah and O’Shannassy - received some good rainfall over the past week.
Between 35mm and 59mm of rain fell, and water storages have risen to 55.8%.
For the same time last year, Melbourne’s water storages were at 49%.
So far this month, Melbourne’s four major catchments have received between 54mm and 112mm of rain. The long-term average for September is between 111mm and 150mm.
Melbourne’s water storages for the week ending 16 September 2004 were 55.8% (989,794 megalitres) full. This is an increase of 16,958 ML since last week (9 September 2004). The increase represents 0.96% of total system storage capacity.
Stage 2 water restrictions are still in place in Melbourne.
