NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED TO MELBOURNE WATER BOARD

Melbourne Water Chaiman, Cheryl Batagol, has welcomed Warren Hodgson to the corporation’s independent Board of Directors.

Mrs Batagol said Mr Hodgson would bring senior management experience from both the private and public sectors at a time of rapid expansion of Melbourne Water’s capital works program.

“Warren’s experience includes running one of the largest companies in New Zealand, and in the process, overseeing delivery of essential services and major infrastructure projects,” said Mrs Batagol.

“He’s also worked at the highest levels of government, most recently as Secretary of the Victorian Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development.

“His expertise will add to the existing capabilities of the Melbourne Water Board, as it oversees the delivery of some of the biggest water infrastructure projects in our State’s history,” added Mrs Batagol.

As part of the Our Water Our Future plan, Melbourne Water is delivering $3.5 billion in capital works on behalf of the Victorian Government over the next five years. These projects include the Reconnection of Tarago Reservoir, the Sugarloaf Pipeline, replacement of the Melbourne Main Sewer Replacement and the Northern Sewerage Project.

Mr Hodgson’s appointment takes the number of members on the independent Board of Melbourne Water to nine.
