Sugarloaf Pipeline Project - Regional Benefits

Melbourne Water is responsible for funding and constructing the Sugarloaf Pipeline, linking the Goulburn River near Yea to the Sugarloaf Reservoir in Melbourne's north-east.

The Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is committed to making a meaningful contribution to local communities affected by construction of the Sugarloaf pipeline. As part of this commitment, $5 million of funding is available to communities affected by construction of the pipeline.

The Shire of Murrindindi, Shire of Yarra Ranges and incorporated community groups located near the pipeline can apply for grants of up to $500,000.

There will be a particular focus on projects that create long term benefits and are aligned with the long term vision for the region.

Advisory Committee - Expressions of Interest

We are now seeking expressions of interest from individuals and local environmental group representatives to participate in the Regional Benefits Advisory Committee (RBAC) and assist in the review of submissions for grant funding made available by the Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance.

The RBAC will assess applications for grants, taking into account the merits of each project against fixed selection criteria. Based on this evaluation the Committee will make recommendations to the Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance Management Team.

Committee members will have a role in maximising community input and involvement in proposed initiatives, and to act as a representative voice in evaluating and selecting projects and initiatives for consideration under the Regional Benefits Grants Program.

If you would like to apply for membership of the committee, please download the information pack below. Hard copies are also available by contacting the Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance on 1800 453 753.

Applications close on Thursday 31 July 2008.
