Northern Sewerage Project
The Northern Sewerage Project is a major and essential infrastructure project that will increase the capacity of the sewerage system in Melbourne's growing northern suburbs. It will also help protect the Merri and Moonee Ponds creeks by virtually eliminating sewage overflows that can occur after heavy rain.
Melbourne Water and Yarra Valley Water are working together to build the new sewer in two stages. Melbourne Water is responsible for Stage One and Yarra Valley Water for Stage Two.
Both organisations recognise that the project may impact on some residents and are working with the community and local councils to find the best way to reduce and manage any impacts.
